Classic cars Event in Woodhall Spa

Organisers of the event say enthusiasts from Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire, and Kent are planning to recreate the idea and organise their own events in 2016.

The Woodhall Spa event is set to take place on Sunday, April 26 at Jubilee Park.  Classic Car Event, Woodhall Spa

It commemorates 64 motoring pioneers who took part in a 1,000 mile trial in 1900 where they drove from London to Scotland and back.

Spokesman Malcolm Brown, of Kirkstead, near Woodhall Spa, said: “They started on April 23, so we’ve picked the Sunday closest to that for our event.

Monte Carlo Classic Rally

Thousands of people are expected to gather in Paisley later for the UK start of the Monte Carlo Classic Rally.

About 70 classic cars – including Porsches, Mini Coopers and Linwood-built Hillman   Paisley to Monte CarloImps – will set off from from Paisley Abbey at about 18:45.

They will join competing cars from the other start cities of Barcelona, Turin, Copenhagen and Reims on the 1,670-mile (2,688km) route to the French Riviera.

Lamborghini Countach at auction

The outrageously styled Lamborghini Countach was the original “poster car” of the   Seventies and Eighties, adorning the bedrooms of small boys (and a good many grown-ups) the world over. After the svelte Miura, arguably the first supercar, it was an   Lamborghini Countachin-your-face statement that the company has made its trademark – at a time when supercars are ten a penny, nothing else looks quite like a Lamborghini.

It’s also finding favour with car collectors. Now that Ferraris are achieving stratospheric values, the Countach has become the best way to grab a slice of Italian exotica. And there’s no time like the present, as no fewer than three examples of the Countach are being sold at RM Auctions’ Paris sale on February 4.

Rare cars to be sold at King’s Lynn auction

Five rare pre-war cars that were once the pride and joy of a West Norfolk haulier will go  under the hammer at a classic car sale at the end of this month.

After being on display to the public in Holkham Hall’s bygones museum since the early 1990s, Maurice Rose’s collection will be looking for new ownership at Anglia Car Auctions classic car sale at Lynn.

The collection includes a 1909 Renault, which was modified from the original Thrupp & RenaultMaberley body into a shooting wagon, and is the oldest car ever to be offered at at this auction.

There is also a 1922 Talbot Durrac open top touring Limo, a 1922 two-seater open top Morris Cowley Bullnose, a 1925 Oily Rag Wolseley and a 1926 Austin 7 Chummy.

Preston is classic car capital of the UK

LONDON, Goodwood or Silverstone may be the places you would expect to top a poll of Classic Mini & Porsche 911the most classic car-friendly places in the UK, but Preston has come out top in a poll to find the classic car capital of the UK.

Using data collected throughout 2014, it was found Preston hosts more classic car events and has more old car enthusiasts than anywhere else in the UK. With events such as the Lancashire Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, Preston has shown itself to be the place to go for old car events.
