Reported by Richard Gunn in http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk classic car body shop garages could well be down by a third.
Classic Cars For Sale disclosed research carried out by independent research company Trend Tracker. This expose reveals that it expects a further 9% drop by 2020. This means that there will be only approximately 3,000 bodyshops left and could pose future difficulties for classic car owners requiring anything from minor body shop work to major classic car restorations.
According to Robert Macnab, the lead analyst at Trend Tracker, commented that restoration jobs could also become more expensive because of the falling numbers of repair garages around.
He said: ‘The hourly labour rate is likely to rise, because the recent upheaval in, what is traditionally a very economically stable market, has been labelled as ‘unprecedented’.
Owners of these prestige vehicles will, however, not be facing difficulties in Lincolnshire. This is because Haltham Garage in Lincolnshire is continuing to be at the forefront of Classic Car Restoration for all types of vehicles whether bodywork or mechanical.
